Day 9 Tournon D'Agenais to Monbahus

Just a short run today of 37 miles to the end of the ride. By mid morning it was raining for the first time on the ride. We stopped for a leisurely lunch by a lake and then cycled to Monbahus where we stopped for a couple of beers as we had been told by the reception committee to arrive at 3pm. Total of 409 miles this year.

Day 7 Ambialet to St Antonin Noble Val

43 miles today. Easy ride down to Albi and then a good climb out of the other side. Could not find anywhere for lunch so continued on to St Antonin Noble Vale. Mike and I arrived before John and found a small tobac that would sell us a cold beer. The daughter of the Cambodian owner asked where we were staying the night and offered us their rental apartment for the night which we accepted!!!!!y It even has a washing machine so we were able to wash some if our clothes.  As we had no lunch we bought a bottle of wine and some crisps to eat in our apartment. Dinner was Hake for Mike and I and Tuna for john in a restaurant next to our apartment.

Day 6 Dinner

We decided that tonights dinner at the hotel deserved it's own blog entry. We all decided to order the chefs choice dinner, 2 courses plus cheese and desert. We had no idea what we would get. First we had a pre-starter, followed by a before starter. Sorry I forgot to take a photo of the before starter which was a cold tomato soup. The real starter was monk fish with a Cray fish and a wonderful sauce. Main was steak and fois gras with mash potatoe and a mushroom sauce. The cheese board was a selection of about 7 cheeses and desert was wonderful. Each course included a different glass of wine.

Day 6 Millau to Ambialet

54 miles today still following the Tarn mostly along what used to be a railway track so mostly flat apart from one long high climb. As we left Millau we went under the bridge. We stopped for lunch in a wonderful little village called Brousse le Chateaux. We have now arrived at Ambialet and booked into the Hotel du Pont.

Day 5 Florac to Millau

53 miles today. Weather is sunny, but when we started we needed jackets as it was cool. Yesterdays climbing gave us some payback today as it was all downhill along the Tarn Gorge. The scenery was really great as you can see from the pictures. We managed to get lunch today of pizza for John and I and tagliatelle for Mike.We are now in Millau (famous for the bridge) and have checked into a hotel close to the center.Every one is OK with no problems other than a few aches.

Day 4 St Jean du Garde to Florac

Big climb day.  We had to climb to over 1000 Mtrs and the lunch stop had no lunch so just a beer and Kit-Kat followed by a really hard climb not helped by the wind in our faces. We found a small hotel in the center of Florac. Dinner was at a bistro where we all had steaks from Argentina and some red wine.
